Trespasser DLC - Epilogue slides

Inquisition was the best project I've ever worked on by a large margin and drawing these epilogue slides felt like the best possible send off for me. Out of the 43 that I drew, these were a few of my favorites.

It was a great chance to break free of technical limitations (cloaks, hair, etc...) and to explore what directions they may head. As wonderful as "iconic" looks are, I like to break characters of their set appearances when possible. Every costume in the game required drawings, sculpting, rigging. That cost means we usually don't get a lot of wardrobe changes for characters. The epilogue slides were also a good chance to explore what else these characters may wear. Maybe they let their hair down (Josephine), or they have a favorite coat they never wore because they spent the game in armor (Cullen), or they have culturally specific clothing they can bring out (Cassandra's formal Nevarran dragon dress and hair braid).

  1. I really enjoyed seeing your art throughout the game, Matt! I'm hoping to send in my portfolio to the EA Scout that approached me a while back and aiming for an internship sometime, especially now that Inquisition is over and I'm assuming there will be much work to be done. With you as lead concept artist and Patrick Weekes as lead writer, Dragon Age can only go in a better direction and I will be very happy to see that and maybe one day be a part of that. The Dragon Age franchise has always been important to me and now I'm glad that Inquisition has enabled more people to be touched by it. Cheers! - Cahts (virabelas@gmail.com)

  2. I am absolutely dazzled by the ending of this dlc/ Inquisition. The script, music, voice works and your drawings. Especially loved the drawing of Varric with the hint of happy ending for the DA2 gangs.

Congratulations on the great ending to a wonderful project.

  5. Hi Matt,

Thanks for sharing these slides. I really enjoyed Inquisition and the Trespasser DLC. I've been a fan of your work since Mass Effect and look forward to seeing more.

  7. Can I just say how happy it made me to see cassandra's braid let down and aveline's new haircut. These were a delight! I know you say yourself how fun it was to be able to draw things with the characters beyond the constraints of the game but I gotta say - as a fan it's just as wonderful for me to see them :)
